Service Overview

Have an idea for a part but no way to make it? Or need to replace a broken component that is no longer sold? We specialise in making parts to measure. 3D printing is a valuable tool for restorers and collectors. It produces accurate copies of missing parts without touching the original. From a 3D scan or from photographs we can model and print the part you need. 3D printing opens new ground for musicians and instrument makers. It allows experiments with the shapes that shape the sound, and personalised accessories that make playing more comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about this service

Yes — that is exactly where 3D printing is strong. There is no minimum order quantity and we are glad to make a single piece. The only limit is a minimum order value of €6.

That is fine. Start by describing the idea. Add a sketch, photographs of similar things, whatever you have. Our designer will get in touch and go through the options with you, and that conversation can turn into a 3D model, which we create for €26/hour.

You do not need to be a materials expert. Just describe what the part is for. Will it be outdoors? Will it be under mechanical load? Does it need to look good? As standard we recommend PLA (decorative use), PETG (functional and outdoor parts), or the PLA Silk and PLA Galaxy finishes. For very specific requirements we find a solution by agreement.

Yes. For production runs (usually from 10 pieces upwards) we offer individual pricing and volume discounts. 3D printing suits runs into the hundreds, where an injection mould would not yet pay for itself.

As standard we work to tenths of a millimetre (around ±0.2 mm), which is sufficient for most functional parts. If yours needs better — for mating with other components, say — tell us and we adapt the print process to get as close as we can.

Yes. If you have the same chair with the decoration intact, we can scan or photograph it and build an accurate 3D model from that. We print it and you can finish the surface to match the original.

The print is plastic, but there are materials containing wood fibre that look and even smell like wood once printed. For a metal look the part is printed in ordinary plastic and then treated with special paints and patination techniques, which can be very convincing.

We do not print in metal directly. We can print an accurate plastic model — a master — which you then take to a foundry, where it is used to make a mould and cast the final part in bronze, brass or another metal.

Yes, we are glad to. 3D printing is an excellent way to make replicas for study, for exhibitions (where a copy can stand in for a valuable original), or to complete damaged exhibits.

Yes — a 3D printed electric guitar or ukulele body plays normally. The sound is shaped by the material and the internal print structure and can differ a little from wood, which is exactly what many experimenters are after. The acoustic behaviour is surprisingly good.

Yes, an easy job for us. Send photographs, dimensions and the diameter of the shaft it fits on, and we will model and print a replacement. It will look new and serve perfectly well.
